I hadn’t seen anything really like it; the malevolence of the music and image combined into something both provocative and stirring. Individual scenes still stand out: the video cassettes, Robert Loggia’s joy ride and Robert Blake’s phantom phone call. Will David Lynch have a new film at Cannes this year?
