princeturts: Unlike the other tribes of pyrriah, the Floewings have never been united under one queen. The vastness of the pacific seas and the isolation of the northern pole gives the “tribe” very few chances to congregate as a whole. But they still follow a matriarchal society. Floewings live and travel in smaller groups called Pods, lead by a Dowager (usually the oldest or most experienced female). Any female in the Pod can challenge the Dowager, not just her daughters, but all challenge battles must be held on land. Only the threat of a rival tribe would be enough for all Floewings to come together under one leader. -- source link
