Greek films that draw their themes and visuals from the antiquity: Η τροφός / The nurse (2000), by Yorgos TzanerisThis is a short film by Yorgos Tzaneris, based on Euripides’ Medea. It is a monologue by the nurse of Medea’s children, also her nurse in her childhood, about Medea’s murders. In the role of the nurse leads Chrysoula Diavati, and Georgia Anesti is portraying a silent Medea. Most notably, the director of photography is Dinos Katsourides, one of the most important directors, editors and directors of photography of modern Greece. He passed away recently in 2011. The top images are from a documentary series about greek directors of photography. You can see some scenes from this short between 43:00 and 47:00- which I recommend, it’s visually compelling. This is a short I would have loved to watch, but I don’t think it’s anywhere to be found online. -- source link
