We love the advertisements in medical journals, and the journal Hyegia has given us some gems. For Throwback Thursday, we found this advertisement for the drink Postum in a copy from 1944. What is Postum, you ask? Other than a swell hot drink, that is? Postum was invented in 1895 by C.W. Post (of Grape Nuts fame) as a caffeine-free alternative to coffee. It was particularly popular during World War II, when coffee subject was subjected to rationing. Postum was discontinued in 2007 by the Kraft Foods Company, but in 2012 the brand was purchased by Eliza’s Quest Foods, who made it available once again. So if you’re intrigued by this grain-based beverage, you can try it for yourself - just remember that it is not similar to coffee in the way that fishing is not similar to skiing! -- source link
