Squashed & Smashed Home from taking the car for a service: out of my granola; didnt fancy a shake; chose toast. It’s not fig jam on the left, it’s a squashed up ripe fig with a sprinkle of cinnamon - no added sugar! Avocado and fresh basil on the right. I have been reading the nutritional panels and ingredients of both breads as I eat them . The Bodhi’s organic stoneground sprouted wheat/sourdough looks ordinary but is a far healthier choice for me. It has lower salt/sugar than the more attractive looking Bürgen bread on the right. Bodhi’s uses olive oil versus canola, and the sourdough process means the tummy-bloating fructans have been fermented out of the bread. The Bürgen lists wheat in various forms, rye (uh-oh! ), which is fine if you are okay with wheat and rye, but it also contains extra added wheat gluten! No wonder people get overloaded. I am not saying it is a bad bread, just not a good choice for me. I should have read first and eaten later! Live and learn. #healthychoices -- source link
