darthlenaplant: xennialrants: I mean yes but then your fiend would break their arm and get their leg tangeled in a bicycle unable to move and there’d be blood everywhere and your other friends would be freaking out and you’d waste valuable time trying to decide to ride to the nearest phone booth (15 mins and no guarantee someone would pick up the phone and you had no coins on you anyway?!) or home (45min- how much are they going to bleed in that time?) so you wrap your jumper around their leg clumsily because it’s tangeled and tell your friend to “hold here” and begin the massive journey home all the while unable to imagine how good it’s going to be one day when everyone has a MOBILE PHONE in a future when kids won’t have to go through this kind of thing on their own anymore This is rather specific, but I am not going to dwelve into that, but rather the double standard of girl having to text EVERY 20 GODDAMN MINUTES (KIDS DO NOT KEEP TRACK OF TIME YOU ABSOLTE FUCKNOODLE! AND BE HONEST, WOULD YOU EVEN WANT A TEXT EVERY DAMN 20 MINUTES???) while being at her friend’s GODDAMN HOUSE, but boy can go play in a dangerous af place with only the informationnto be home for dinner at 5. I’m pretty sure it’s actually more about age difference than anything else. Kids were generally a lot more free & independent before the 90s, including for girls. -- source link
