The Alexander Turnbull Library was delighted to receive an Ethiopian Prayer Book as a donation, thanks to the generosity of Emeritus Professor Alexandra Barratt (University of Waikato).Written on goatskin in Ge’ez script, the text of the manuscript is accompanied by four full-page illustrations. In addition to St George and the Dragon, and the Virgin and Child flanked by two saints, shown here, there are images depicting the Crucifixion and St Michael the Archangel respectively.The manuscript was recently catalogue and is available for study.Prayer Book, Ethiopia, 39 leaves, [1970]; Alexander Turnbull Library, MSR-45. -- source link
