Earlier this year I had the opportunity to submit to a student competition for cosmetology students
Earlier this year I had the opportunity to submit to a student competition for cosmetology students called Beacon. I almost didn’t submit because I didn’t think I could (and let’s be real. I’m lazy) but I found out I could and had almost everything I need already done! The last bit for me to do was the three submission images. They are worth the least in judging but I wanted images that would be professional and freaking awesome. So, I called my cousin and asked if he could help me with the photos. These are the final images I submitted. Making three different sets of nails was crazy. They are all false nails but I tried to get them to be as close to my natural nails as possible since I always paint on my real nails. I grabbed all the chopsticks in the house and used double stick tape to hold them down and shoved them into a GIANT mug filled with rice to keep them upright. I have a photo of that somewhere. It’s really something. The inspiration behind this was that I wanted to pick influential places and people. Things close to me that inspire and motivate me. I chose Portland, London, and Japan. I am Japanese born in American and I did a study abroad in London where I made most of my “adult” friends. Legally we’re adults. We’re surprised too. The people in these photos are my friends and my family and me. They’re personal photos of wonderful memories in important places. Thanks, guys! I miss you tons ❤️ This was a lot of fun to put together and gave me more confidence in what I do and what I want to do in the future. And guess what?! WE’RE GOING TO VEGAS, BABY! I am so excited to be able to call myself a Beacon 2017 winner. One of one hundred in the nation. To the future! And some other inspirational stuff. -- source link
