brooklynmuseum: The Colorama of the exhibition Christian Dior: Designer Of Dreams presents the palette of colors used by the House of @dior, represented in accessories, beauty, dresses, drawings, hats, handbags, gloves, jewelry, makeup, perfume and shoes, from 1947 to 2021, along with miniature, precisely scaled-down copies of original dress, gown and coat designs produced by the haute couture ateliers. The Dior palette demonstrates the cohesiveness of the House of Dior style that he introduced in his haute couture collections, which reinforces the sense of a harmonious vision of elegance. Of all the colors, Dior—a passionate gardener—was particularly fond of green, and wrote in his 1954 Little Dictionary of Fashion: “It is a color of Nature—and when you follow Nature for your color schemes you can never go wrong. I love to see green used in every shade and in every material— from tweed in the morning to satin in the evening. There is green for everyone and for every complexion.” Installation views, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams, Brooklyn Museum, September 10, 2021–February 20, 2022.
