daylightisminetoconsume: mdoodlerfandomart:Baby Rork AUOkay, so you know how Nari implies things will unfold differently in the new timeline? And you know how we see little things outside of Jim’s influence that are just a bit different (like Toby being able to climb the rope in gym)? What if something of higher impact changed?Soon after Toby finds the amulet and shares his discovery with Jim, the pair get to go to Trollmarket. It goes just as Jim expected (minus Bular hunting them on the way there) and they end up in the Forge where Toby begins his training. This time Jim gets to hang out with Aaarrrgghh on the sidelines, monitoring Toby’s progress as Blinky explains the three rules of being the Trollhunter. Honestly, he’s mostly in his own head thinking about the timeline and what needs to happen next. That’s when something starts poking at his hair. He looks up and there’s this tiny troll hanging off of Aaarrrgghh’s fur and looking at Jim like he’s the most interesting thing in the world, one little hand reaching out for him. They stare each other down for a solid few seconds before Jim mutter’s a near hysteric, “oh no,” because there weren’t baby trolls involved last time and who’s baby is this and how is that going to change things and on and on it goes until he’s falling on his butt staring in horror at the baby troll that looks very Krubera in nature. It’s then explained to him that this is Rork and he’s Blinky and Aaarrrgghh’s son. He’s only a few years old, but he’s one of a handful of new whelps that were brought to life in the last decade. With Kanjigar’s rapport and strength, it felt like a safe time to bring little ones into the world, again. They couldn’t have predicted that the renowned Trollhunter would fall so soon after they finally felt safe. Some ideas on this AU:Jim and Toby immediately fall into Big Brother roles for Rork. Not only do they absolutely adore him, they also feel responsible for keeping him safe considering they’re the Trollhunters.Rork is very intrigued by his squishy brothers.Jim and Toby end up learning Trollish alongside Rork while also inadvertently teaching the whelp English and a bit of Spanish.Rork routinely eats their school supplies and homework. There are definitely a few incidents where Rork stows away in their backpacks and both boys have to hide him from their families or at school until they can get him back to Trollmarket. In the event that Jim returns to his troll form, it doesn’t go over well with Rork. While Jim is excited to introduce his troll self to his baby brother, said whelp doesn’t recognize him and alternates between crying or fighting his big brother. They both end up heartbroken for a while until Aaarrrgghh gets Rork to take a good sniff of Jim. Rork vaguely recognizes the scent and some of Jim’s mannerisms and eventually comes around. He doesn’t quite understand what’s going on, but he knows his big brother.Years later, long after Jim has become a troll and when Rork is the equivalent of a teenager, he doesn’t believe everyone when they say Jim was once a human. He’s convinced they’re all just committed to this joke. In anticipation of that reaction, Toby put together a video forever ago with footage of human!Jim with Rork. He’s still sceptical, but it would explain why Jim’s nose is so weird and why his phalanges aren’t the same on any of his limbs. The video Toby puts together includes some clips that will be shown to Rork many many years later. It was meant for when Toby and Jim are gone - whether that’s from Trollhunter business or because humans don’t live as long as trolls. They both sat down with their baby brother and recorded one last message for him so no matter how many centuries go by, he’ll know how much his brothers loved him <3 Jim: Blinky and Arrrggh have a son???Jim: Wait, they weren’t just roommates!?! -- source link
