In growing up, we all knew of that boy who lived on the other side of town. The boy we always mocked. There was always a sense, how we simply couldn’t understand how it is possible, that a boy could be so much more like a girl is. How a boy could like all the things that only girls were supposed to like. So disturbingly, how could it be, that a boy could so passionately like boys, in the way only girls supposed to do, and how it could be that he had absolutely no interest in girls, in the way you would only expect girls to. There was always, when thinking about this boy, as discomfort, deep down worrying, whether if I allowed myself to indulge in the effeminate ways of a girl, would I also come to be just like him?Shockingly, after I had heard so much about him over the years, I was taken aback, by seeing him for the first time. That he didn’t look anything other than a girl. More so, that he could have been the prettiest girl in town…. That quickly I was developing the biggest crush of my young life. -- source link
