It’s time to get active. On Tuesday, Norwegian company @equinor - a company that is two thirds state owned - formally released their draft environmental plan for deep water oil drilling in the Great Australian Bight. They want to drill later this year. Equinor’s own spill modelling sees oil spread along thousands of kilometres of pristine Australian coastline. It would be catastrophic on every level. The plan is before industry regulator NOPSEMA and is open now to public comment for the next 30 days. This is your chance to tell them that Big Oil does not belong in the Great Australian Bight. Submit an objection, ring your local MP, email (or call) Melissa Price, the Federal Minister for Environment. With almost 1 million surfers in Australia, we *can* make a difference but only if we make our voices heard. Our coastlines are too precious to coat in oil. • Pic 1~ oil spill clean up in California via @surfriderla Pic 2~ @equinor spill mapping • • • #surfsirens #fightforthebight #oilspill #nowaynorway #womenssurfing #cyclineoma #surfgirl #surfergirl #girlsurfer https://www.instagram.com/p/BuKG14BhCK6/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=jlp3ulto1ssh -- source link
