A non-corset post wishing love to Julie Strain and her family as she is dealing with her diagnosis of dementia. This is a pic cut out of a magazine that I’ve had hanging in my house for 18(?) years reminding me to be a badass after graduating college and making the big move to L.A. It’s her character from “Heavy Metal 2000” painted by The Biz (Simon Biseley). In the early days of the internet, Julie was the Queen of all Media, self-proclaimed B-Queen, unapologetic adult star and the brainy sexy wife of Ninja Turtles man, Kevin Eastman. As a Heavy Metal magazine fan since childhood, I thought they were a power team of geekness and sexy fun. Julie Strain would have been “a get” - as in, “who are the famous people who have modeled your corsets??” (That magical period on The Web: pre-Suicide Girls, of Apnea, of Dita Von Teese, shibari websites, TFP, print magazines… You remember!) I had the chance to meet her at a book signing at Dark Delicacies in Burbank and she was the sweetest. I promised to send her a corset. I let the years slip by, but a photographer friend eventually worked with her and shot her in my corsets. I feel more excited that I was able to meet her. She is, to me, the woman who was very proud of her looks, her athletic body, able to not take herself too seriously, sex positive and a nerd who geeked out with us nerds! I’m sorry I never thanked you earlier for your inspiration Julie <3 #JulieStrain -- source link
