luciferlaughs: Ray Gricar served as the district attorney of Centre County, Pennsylvania, for 20 years until 2005, when he peculiarly vanished. Occasionally, Ray liked to step away from his busy job and take a nice, solitary road trip before returning to his everyday life. On the morning of April 15, 2005, after taking one of these ritual road trips, Ray phoned his girlfriend to inform her that he would be home soon. Ray never returned home, and later that evening, his panicked girlfriend reported him missing. Ray’s vehicle was soon found abandoned in an antique shop parking lot. Inside, police only found his cell phone, but his laptop, keys, and wallet were absent. Almost three months after Ray’s disappearance, a fisherman fished out Ray’s laptop from the bottom of the river. Police analyzed the computer and found its hard drive to be missing. Two months later, someone recovered the hard drive located not far from where the laptop was found, but since it was so badly damaged, not a single ounce of data could be retrieved from it. No other traces of Ray emerged until 2009, when police revealed that shortly before his disappearance, Ray’s home computer had made internet searches such as, ‘’how to wreck a hard drive’’, “how to fry a hard drive” and “water damage to a notebook computer”.Although Ray’s body was never recovered, he was pronounced legally dead in 2011. -- source link
