cullingofthelambs: feministlisafrank: Quote by Senator Tammy Duckworth. So how exactly is Trump a bully? Do keep in mind that you live in a country where you can openly denounce and mock your own leaders without fear of imprisonment or worse… Do keep in mind that Trump had absolutely nothing to do with making the US a place where you can “openly denounce and mock your own leaders without fear of imprisonment or worse” and frequently makes statements that sound like he’d be more than happy to abolish those protections. Putting aside the term ‘bully’ for a second since it’s technically subjective, Trump and members of his administration frequently use official channels and twitter accounts to attack and disparage both businesses and private citizens for taking actions/making statements with which the administration doesn’t agree. At best, this is incredibly tacky. At worst, it’s a federal offense. It’s against the law to use public office for private gain. He also knows that he has a very active and protective fan base that will look up anyone he speaks badly of and harass them. He has encouraged this behavior, both online and at his rallies, and even encouraged physical violence against people. He’s made statements supporting making aggressive sexual advances against women without their consent. He enacted a policy to remove migrant children from their families for seeking asylum - which is not illegal - and then claimed it was the fault of the Democrats not agreeing with him that was keeping this policy in place. This is all pretty standard bully behavior, though honestly, ‘bully’ is a much nicer word for him than I would personally use. -- source link
