afrodyketee:lesbian-lizards:girlschasinggirls:Ninotchka Rosca“If your intersectionality is not women-centered, then it is not feminism.”A good distinction. I still believe “intersectional” feminism should refer to the intersection of racism and sexism that black women face, as was originally intended, but even in regards to the way people often use it now: inclusiveness of other groups, the common denominator should still be about women/femaleness. If your feminism isn’t for women first, and if your feminism doesn’t acknowledge sex-based oppression and the unique struggles that women face for being female, then what’s the point?Males: “if your feminism isn’t about centering and catering to males, then it isn’t feminism. Yeah, we never liked that you had feminism in the first place so can you get back to centering us?” Well done hijacking what intersectionality was originally meant to do, which was to take into account the unique challenge faced by women of color due to the joint oppression of sexism and racism. -- source link
