Spent the #LongWeekend in Fergus and Elora with @adriennekress in a mini writer’s retreat. I wrote the first chapters of two different novels, updated my query letter, and updated my For Agents webpage (after some much needed and much appreciated technical intervention from @karenwoodeh.) It’s the first time I’ve really been able to sit down and write since I finished the big rewrite of #NineTenths, and it’s been very nice to have the space in the mental capacity to create again. I wouldn’t say I’m 100% there yet, but it feels good to be getting back to my own self. We interspersed our writing with going on long walks, having wine by the river at the @thebrewhouseonthegrand, a marvelously rich and filling high tea at @thewildtartelora, and cocktails at the @eloradistillingco. (I had something called a Hocus Pocus and I wish I’d taken a photo of the ingredients so I could try to recreate it at home! It’s made with vodka that is gently purple because it’s been filtered through amethyst.) All in all it was a wonderful and much-needed mini vacation, and I’m very glad that Adrienne pushed me to turn it into a writing retreat, as I feel both rested and productive. Now to do the laundry. First two photos by @adriennekress. (at Fergus, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd6gKKKPnzR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI= -- source link
