Today I visited the studio of Brooklyn painter Joel Adas. Two years ago, he and I showed some work together at Gary Giordano Projects in NY. This delayed visit was well worth the wait, getting to see his recent work in the flesh. His direct painting makes me think of Rockwell Kent, Elmer Biscoff, David Park, and some recent Euro painters such as Lars Elling. Most intriguing was his use of Black and blue/grey. Even on metal and other surfaces those colors held up. With just a few marks or washes, he can depict a space and distance you could walk into. More of work can be seen here - https://www.joeladas.com. #museumphotography #collectionsphotography #photographyofart #studiophotography #artcollection #artdealer #collector #garygiordanoprojects #joeladas (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/BszCQkyFDeV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1m0uk5r371ek1 -- source link
