kurhanchyk:Crimean Tatar female festive belt, yipişli quşaq, 19th or early 20th century. The main decoration of this belt is a large buckle (toqa), made in the technique of openwork filigree (çilter). The buckle looks like two paired grape leaves (üzüm yapraq), decorated with a flower. Small pendants, always an odd number, were attached to the bottom of the buckle. It was believed that their ringing scares away evil spirits. In the traditional culture of Crimean Tatars, a belt and other jewellery could tell a lot about a woman, including her social status, age and region of origin. Oh, this is some exquisite metal work! -- source link
