Today I finally pulled the rest of my carrots. The unglamorous common carrot is probably my favorite vegetable, and I’ve been tending these babies with great attention since planting in June. Unfortunately, a lot of my carrots got stolen, probably because this particular box is located in one of the more trafficked areas of the hospital rooftop, where I often see people smoking and conducting illicit transactions and such. Most of my basil has been stolen too. But I decided at the outset of this project not to be upset by such things. It’s an issue we’ll just have to keep working to improve, gradually, with good clear signs and demarcations and general awareness within the hospital community. In any case, I’m pretty happy about these carrots, they are incredibly sweet and delicious. You can also see some Chinese greens coming up, which I planted toward the end of summer, now racing to mature before it gets too cold. -- source link
