The further from your face we get, the harder it is to read you. Your hands are expressive, and they convey a lot, and the way you arch your back or don’t arch your back has its own little piece to say. Your stomach, though? It’s hardly the most verbose part of your body, and while there’s plenty your legs can say, they often prefer to stay aloof from the conversation, perhaps offering the non-committal shrug of a crossing once in a while, but otherwise remaining mute. And your toes? When have your toes ever said anything of consequence? Sure they crinkle and squeeze once in a while, but it’s hardly as if they’re the only thing shouting that wordless thought out into the world. They’re your body’s cheerleader, just repeating slogans and cheers rather than having any original thought. Let’s forget about your toes. But when I have your face, with its beautifully eloquent eyebrows, that wonderfully linguistic mouth, each little parting of the lip or half hidden smile reeling off spools of conversation and discussion, telling me all those wonderful little things that you don’t really have the courage to say, or would rather I did work for them, just a little bit. Your eyes. Fuck. Your eyes. I could talk to your eyes for hours, days. And I could charm your cheeks, flood them with colour, and be entertained forever. So let’s not hide your face, ok? -- source link
