Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka MagicaStreaming subbed on Funimation. There’s no denying the popularity of Madoka Magica, just as there’s no denying what set it apart. Deconstructions are nothing new, all the same I’m quite sure other magical girl deconstructions existed before Madoka, but it set the ton for a what future deconstructions of the genre would look like. But Madoka was fresh at the time, especially since it played its hand close, waiting until 3 episodes in to say “Guess what!” with only the unsettling animation of the witches and Shaft’s directing as a suggestion things weren’t right.Magia Record doesn’t have that luxury. By now, we already know the conceit of this world. That hurts this show a lot before it even starts. We’re very quickly introduced to a few main characters, time jumping between scenes as we get a character narrated introduction into the world and its systems - or at least, the characters’ understanding of them. We know details are missing.) we’re also introduced to the concept that these girls are trying to go somewhere they saw in a dream. The trade off for all this info dumping is that we aren’t really introduced to closely to our protagonists. The show would rather bombard us with creepy visuals then build things up. It’s not BAD like the previous show, it’s just trying too hard to be something it can’t really be.Positive Note : Gekiden Inu Curry is back. Will I watch Episode 2? Yeah, I’ll give it a second chance. Let’s hope it finds its footing. -- source link
