ralphsmotorbike: Ralph Richardson makes his television debut as Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol,” broadcast as a 30-minute adaptation on Christmas Day 1951 on NBC. With Robert Hay Smith as Tiny Tim, Norman Barrs as Bob Cratchit, and Arthur Treacher, Melville Cooper, and Alan Napier (Alfred on the TV version of Batman) as the Christmas Ghosts. Sadly this isn’t available on video, but Ralph made two audio recordings of Scrooge that are online. One version was made apparently for radio, probably in the 1950’s, with Ralph as both Scrooge and the narrator. Here’s the link: https://archive.org/details/otr_achristmascarol. The other version is the Caedmon recording with the great Paul Scofield as narrator and Ralph as Scrooge. It’s posted in eight parts on YouTube. I love Ralph’s performance at the end, when Scrooge realizes it’s Christmas morning. Here’s that link: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GbK3xQSeMjw -- source link
