Daisy Daisy, Give Me Your Answer Do! Her parents had always said that Daisy was an apt name for a girl that loved flowers as much as she did. For Daisy, there was just something magical about wandering through a field of tall grass and wild flowers, something that made her feel calm and free. Little did she know just how magical such fields could be.Daisy pale skin nearly glowed in the afternoon sun, and despite how bright out it was, she wished she had worn something warmer than her short shorts and thin top. She hugged her arms close to protect herself from the breeze as the wind whipped her dark hair wildly. Chilly or not, there was something she loved about a sunny windy day, and maybe that was what inspired her to go out for a walk through this field. Daisy smiled as she looked down at a bed of clovers and dandelions mixed in the grass. The grass moved with the breeze, moving rhythmicly like the waves of a verdant ocean. Daisy could feel the stress of daily life leaving her body as the visuals of the remote countryside eased her mind. She wished she had more opportunities to come out here, to just be in the wilds and feel free. After walking around for a while Daisy decided it was time to get heading home, the breeze was still kind of cold and she was eager for the warmth of her car or a jacket. As she turned to leave something unusual caught her eye, a flower that she had never seen before. It’s petals were black with white stripes and she didn’t see another flower like it anywhere else in the field. There was a faint scent in the air, it almost reminded her of a fresh cup of coffee. The closer she got to the flower the stronger the scent became, and despite her usual habit of simply looking at the flowers she felt compelled to pick this one.As she plucked the flower from the ground the white center of the flower bristled like the fur of an angry animal and a puff of dusty white pollen almost exploded out of it. The wind blew the pollen right into Daisy’s face and she coughed and gagged, falling to her knees as the dusty white pollen made her eyes water. It smelled horrible, it was most likely the worst thing she had ever smelled and as the poor girl struggled to breath she worried that she might be having an allergic reaction. Her entire body stung like pins and needles for a moment and as she hacked and coughed the horrid smell only slowly began to fade. While the sensory overload of stench receded, other sensations became acute. Her skin itched, from her nose, up her head, and all the way down the length of her spine. Her arms also itched badly and she was really starting to worry about a bad reaction from the unknown flower. For a moment she thought she was starting to hallucinate, her nose which was still recovering from it’s assault, now looked thick and dark of color. She reached up and touched it only to discover that not only was it indeed larger and slowly turning a very dark grown, but her hand was covered in hair. A fine layer of black hairs had grown from the top of her hand and a similar thing was occurring up her arm. She watched as more and more hairs grew in, thick enough to look more like fur than hair at this point. The itching continued, but scratching herself just seemed to make the hairs grown faster. Daisy stopped scratching herself when she saw her fingernails darken and lengthen until her hand looked somewhere between a girls and the paw of an animal, the underside was somewhat hairless and there was a faint shape like the pad of a paw.Daisy looked at her hands in confusion, unsure of what was real and what was hallucination brought on by the strange flower. Her back still itched liked her hands had a moment ago, but it was the prickly sensation in her ears that caught her attention fully. She could feel them as they contorted and sprouted hairs of their own, rapidly becoming as furry and animal like as her arms had. She bit her lip and tried to calm herself as she felt the dark furred round shapes that used to be normal human ears.As Daisy fretted over her inhuman ears a crack and a pop followed by a sharp and uncomfortable twinge made her wince. Her spine felt like someone had grabbed hold of it and yanked, everything was either painful or numb and she had to blink away some stars from her eyes as her body calmed down from whatever had just happened. Daisy was still crouched on the ground and the only thing visible above the sea of grass was the bushy black and white shape of a tail, a large skunk’s tail.Daisy held the huge fluffy appendage with her hand and her mouth hung open as she tried to reconcile the fact that this thing was attached to her. She could feel, it, move it with the wiggle of a muscle that hadn’t been there before, she… she had a tail. Daisy brushed black and white hairs from her face as she tried to return to reality. This wasn’t real, this wasn’t happening, she wasn’t a… skunk.Daisy counted to ten and opened her eyes, she was still holding her skunk tail and crouched in the field, her clothes partially torn by her tail and her claws as she itched herself. For a long moment Daisy just sat there, processing. Everything felt normal, weirdly normal. She knew that having a tail or fur was really weird, but it didn’t feel bad, it felt kind of good really, her tail was pretty warm if she held it close. She also could smell all the flowers of the field, thankfully excluding the odd skunk flower. She took a moment to enjoy her newly sharpened senses, and to appreciate that she didn’t smell like the flower or a skunk. Thankfully skunks don’t always smell, so unless she had developed some new glands she was unaware of, she would just smell like a girl, albeit a hairy one. She mad a mental note to buy a lot of shampoo next time she went to the store. She frowned, going to the store was going to be a challenge, her body wasn’t really fit for stores now.Daisy looked back toward her car with a bit of longing for the safety and comfort of normalcy, but then her eyes darted to the nearby forest and a familiar feeling of wild freedom overtook her. She wasn’t sure if she even wanted to go back to her old life, maybe she would just stay here for a while… -- source link
