megarywrites: Chronicles of Dracrie world-building ➣ notable locations for Seafoam ↳ Smara River — Distinguished by its emarald green water, the Smara is the greatest and richest source of magic in all of Grea, second only to the springs it originates from—the Tinua Springs. The legend of Tinua Springs is that an age ago, when dragons still roamed Dracrie freely, an exhausted dragon landed in what are now known as the Giama Mountains for a respite from it’s flight and found a cool, sweet springs there to quench its thirst. Grateful for the reprieve and rejuvination the water provided, the dragon blessed the springs the produce magic forevermore, even now long after Nacratyn. The Smara itself is still rich with magic, and it is said that if one drinks from it, you will be granted life anew just like the dragon had been that day. ↳ Katania — Katania is a latridom—an Isotrei house of worship—in Grea’s capitol, Aspyra. It houses the Diamo, who is the leader of Grea; the apprentice Droma, future governors of the land who oversee the cities and villages around Grea; the Elder Sorma, the woman who sees to the day-to-day running of the Katania; the Stoli, young women from all over Grea who come to silently serve the people of Aspyra before being sent to latridoms across the country; and the criminals awaiting their trial by the Diamo. Katania itself is built directly above the mouth of the Smara, just before it spills out into the sea. It’s renowned for its beauty, with its gleaming marble walls and towers of stained glass. ↳ Chitrenikos — Chitrenikos is an underwater paradise inhabited by marine life and mermaids. It formed after Nacratyn when the land mass split and whole cities were submerged as the realm was rent. It’s maintained by the magic of Mitha, the mother of mermaids, and Kama, the only sea serpent to ever bond with a human, and they made it into a haven and a home for any woman who finds herself lost at sea. ↳ Agorostiko — Also known as the Market in Shadow, Agorostiko resides in Aspyra and is one of the few places where potions are still sold in Grea. Its location changes daily to prevent the merchants getting caught and brought into Katania for the crime of still producing potions. Some types of potions are more readily available than others, but the other more dubious varieties can be available upon request and without question of the intention of the buyer. -- source link
