NOISEMAKERS’ MASQUERADE recently, I was very fortunate for the opportunity for collaboration with XP-Pen. The full review can be found below. The individuals at XP-Pen kindly sent me the 13.3 Pro display tablet to try out, so I decided to draw some suspicious little cats to familiarise myself with this tablet. As its name suggests, the tablet screen is a comfortable work size, but readily fits into standard laptop case for transport, and can run on HDMI and USB cable from the computer. I’m pretty picky about colours, and was impressed by how little parallax there was, as this tablet has a laminate matte screen. I also liked how closely the colours matched computer and phone display (especially because I like to compare colour depiction before posting images). I’ve seen reviews noting that these tablets require heavier pressure to detect, but personally found the pressure sensitivity to my taste. Previously, when working with a graphic tablet, I typically refined sketches to lineart quality before digitally colouring a piece, leaving nothing to the capricious whims of hand-screen coordination, but this piece was scanned relatively early to acclimate to drawing directly on-screen This allowed me to make more spontaneous choices in rendering. More than anything, I wasn’t expecting how similar the drawing experience would be to traditional drawing, the pressure sensitivity felt so natural (the prime reason why all the cats are so generously whiskered for this piece!!). life offers you little joys; sometimes these joys manifest as opportunities to detail elaborately patterned cushions beneath cats’ bottoms, (^^the scroll button!!!! extremely convenient) This tablet has 8 express keys, which seemed A Lot, but, coupled with the red scroll dial, kept drawing as focus by eliminating the habit of fumbling for mouse/keyboard.)some minor drawbacks- i.) some struggle setting up left-handed display through the app interface. XP-Pen was very patient in providing tech support; LH configuration supported only in ‘extend’ mode ii.) calibration is a little off at edges (only minor effects on layer menu selection though) I’d always been hesitant to replace graphic tablet, intimidated by the costs of responsive display tablets. the 13.3 Pro is roughly ½ price of professional tablet w/comparable quality. If you’re looking into display tablets, I think that it’s really worth exploring the XP-Pen line. On the whole, I wasn’t expecting how close this drawing experience would come to a traditional drawing feeling; the tablet’s functions integrate so well with my existing workflow that I can only recommend this tablet wholeheartedly. Many thanks to XP-Pen for this opportunity. Links to XP-Pen products: US: http://bit.ly/2SS7xlL UK: http://bit.ly/2E4gRMxAU: http://bit.ly/37WusSCEU: http://bit.ly/2Tcr6FB -- source link
