Justice for Jacob Blake // I had every intention of sharing something completely different tonight but my heart is heavy and I’m angry at yet another incident of police brutality. // Jacob Blake was shot in his back 7 times by a police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday as he was getting into his SUV. 7 freaking times! His 3 kids were in the car and watched this happen. His fiancé was there and watched this happen. Neighbors were there and watched this happen. Other police officers were there and watched this happen. I watched the video and unlike many who have asked others not to share it, I think it is important for you to see how unbelievably callous this officer was. He had complete disregard for human life. He does NOT need to be disciplined or retrained. He does NOT need to be put on paid administrative leave. He does NOT belong on the police force. He needs to be fired and charged immediately. // Miraculously Jacob Blake survived but he is paralyzed from the waist down. His children and his family traumatized forever. When will this stop? When will police stop killing black men and using the bullshit argument of being “fearful” or stating that if he had complied, things would’ve been different. We’ve seen video evidence to the contrary. It’s racism. // Dylan Roof killed 9 people in a church and was taken to Burger King. // James Holmes killed 12 people and injured 57 people in a movie theater and taken into custody without incident. // Kyle Rittenhouse killed 2 people protesting police brutality against Jacob Blake and was taken into custody without incident. The Police Chief in Kenosha held a press conference and said that a 17 yr old with an AR-15 went to “resolve issues” at the protest. // Yet Jacob Blake was walking to his car and an officer held the back of his shirt and shot him 7 times in the back. // We need change. We demand change. Contact the elected officials in Wisconsin and your local representatives and demand change. Vote. Vote and Vote.
