mostly-history:Bevelled-rim bowl (Nippur, c. 3300 – 3100 BC). Ceramic, 8.2 x 19.0x 19.0 cm. Late Uruk Period.Artifacts from the city of Uruk have been found at nearly everyexcavated site in Mesopotamia. The most common artifact is thebevelled-rim bowl. It was mould-made and mass-produced – the firstexample of a mass-produced product. This bowl was how workers were paid – a certain amount of grain wasladelled into a standard-size bowl. It seems that they werefrequently discarded after use.The bevelled-rim bowl was so popular that manufacturing centres arosethroughout Mesopotamia, as far awa from Uruk as the city of Mari inthe north. Uruk is generally believed to be where these bowlsoriginated, but this is not certain. -- source link
