This artwork has always been intended to be an homage to Gabriel García Márquez’s masterpiece One Hundred Years of Solitude, which I read earlier this year. This book had just so much in it, but the most striking chapters for me are certainly of the banana company and how the invasion of white people changes Macondo. The ants are another common recurring theme in this book signifying destruction and death. Reading is such a passion for me, that I really want to see how with art I can illustrate that passion more. So, I’m thinking of doing more quotes, maybe illustrations of things I read, or of poetry. In the past I did a lot of Harry Potter illustrations and I’ve been drawing fairytales and Alice in Wonderland more than once. Anyways, I hope you enjoy. -- source link
