dearjulianna2015: Dear Julianna,My name is Jasmine like the princess in Aladdin! I am 20 years old and I have SMA. SMA is a different kind of Muscular Dystrophy, but it’s similar to yours. I have a trach in my throat and a cool ventilator to help me breathe, because my muscles suck at working right. The ventilator pumps air into my lungs that way I can breathe, talk, eat and sing! The ventilator also helps me when I’m sick and have a lot of buggies in my chest. Doctors told my mommy and daddy that I was going to die when I was 2 years old, but it wasn’t true! Doctors don’t know everything and sometimes you have to prove them wrong.I love Disney movies like Aladdin, Pocahontas, Frozen, and Peter Pan. I also love dogs (my sister has a puppy named Teddy), cats, butterflies (my room is full of butterfly things), flowers, zebra print, makeup, jewelry, nailpolish and my computer! I like to go shopping, go to the movies, go to church, go out to eat with my family, go to parties and hang out at the park. I do all of those awesome fun things with my wheelchair and ventilator! In January I will be graduating from the 12th grade, finally! I’m hoping to get a job as an assistant that way I can help my mom pay for my college fees. I want to become a counselor that way I can help people with their problems. I’m writing this letter to let you know that your life is beautiful and worth it. You have so much to live for and accomplish. There are so many things to help you live and grow. You can become a ballerina, a teacher, anything you want to be! I want to go to heaven one day too, but first I want to be all that I can be and do all that I can do; you should too!If you or your parents have any questions, please tell them to send me a message on Facebook.Best wishes,Jasmine Ramos, New York CityPhoto description: Jasmine in her power wheelchair wearing pearl tiara and necklace, corsage, red blouse, black leggings, red nail polish, lipstick, and showing her trache. -- source link
