“Where did you find it?” Ronan asks. He unlinks their fingers and picks up the book, replacing Adam’s thumb with his own, marking their spot.“The bookshelf in their bedroom.”Adam doesn’t have to say whose bedroom. Only one bedroom is still their bedroom. It doesn’t bother Ronan that Adam is curious about his parent’s stuff. Adam is allowed to look at anything he wants to at the Barns. Nothing is off limits. This is his home now as much as it is Ronan’s.Ronan studies the cover and then flips it over to the back. It’s just as he remembers it. He bets it even still smells like his father, but he doesn’t want to sniff it in front of Adam because that would be fucking weird. “Is it dreamt?” he asks. Adam is better than him at finding the leftover dreamt objects. He can feel dream energy in a way that Ronan can’t.Adam shakes his head.Relief washes over Ronan. He had loved his father very much, but there was something strangely comforting about a story untouched by his father’s wild imagination. “Good. It doesn’t have some fucked up ending then.”Woohoo!
