fimbry: I’ve gotten a lot of comments on Snakey’s photos about concern for her weight and how much her spine is showing. I’ve explained that the spine is so lifted because she is flattened against the eggs, but I thought I’d show an example as well (also because some people don’t believe me lol?). 1. Body is evenly weighted against a flat surface, and spine is visible, as it should be, but not heavily protruding. It’s mostly an even slope to the crest. 2. When the snake’s body is flattened out some, the spine lifts up considerably as the rest of the body seems to fall to the sides creating a very dramatic and suddenly steep slope up to the spine.
