Ichigo Momomiya from Tokyo Mew Mew @creamcheese.cosplaySo my sister actually she’s a part of the Nineties kids, we are ten years apart big gap but she grew up watching Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, all of those like classic nineties animes. She also had a manga collection when I was little. And one of the manga that she had was Tokyo Mew Mew. I wasn’t allowed to watch anime or touch her mangas Because I wasn’t old enough So I would secretly read Tokyo Mew Mew when she wasn’t in the room . That cosplay is a tribute To my older sister for those year back when she had to hide anime and manga from me . Though after cosplaying her, my sister told me she always knew I was reading her mangas and know that Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew will always be my favorite magical girl she said I reminded her of the character alot growing upLet getting the settings so you understand where I’m coming from. I live in Mississippi deep South and it’s 2013. Being a part of the South my family is very religious so NO Halloween. I don’t know why it bother me so much that I couldn’t dress up . I think it might have been I thought I could never be a princess .Anyways I was starting 6th grade and I just learned about Spirit Week an entire week I could dress up and be who. I remember not knowing what to be and stressing out it . I was using my mom phone to look up character. This is a core memory. I wanted to relax and I there were no cartoons to watch because it was cable so I sat in the family room with my mom. We are a family that love science fiction movies and the Syfy Chanel. That day I watched a show called HEROES OF COSPLAY. Let me tell you it changed my life I found out that costume aren’t bounded by anything. You don’t need a day or a week to be a princess you can be that anytime. I don’t remember the names of the cosplayer in the show anymore but I remember one of them cosplayed as Rainbow Dash and this was during the height of MLP love.I flipped my shit over that. That same day I was looking up photos of human rainbow dash on my mom phone . I started making my first cosplay her wing were cardboard that my dad sprayed painted blue for me . I got my outfit from dirt cheap and I bought a terrible blonde wig and just how the girl did it in the show I spent hours using Sharpie to color that wig. Km pretty sure my parents thought I was going crazy. And I don’t have photos of the cosplay anymore but I didn’t look good at all but I didn’t care it gave me such a confidence boost be pretend to be someone looked up to . Nobody can tell me shit because I'm Rainbow Dash still to this dayhttps://www.instagram.com/creamcheese.cosplay/ -- source link
