jumpingjacktrash:biologyoffishes:This was a Reddit comment in response to a post to a guy saying they don’t feel clever enough to pursue a PhD in mathematics. Although this is about getting a PhD in math, I think it’s still relevant to anyone trying to pursue higher education in biology or any field for that matter. You don’t need to be clever to get that masters degree or that doctorate. You just need to work hard and learn from your mistakes.also just generally relevant to any field of endeavorok look, even if you ARE clever (and at the risk of sounding like a jackass, i am pretty damn smart), you will not be good at anything when you start. and if you’re progressing at all, you’ll keep encountering more and more things you’re not good at.the way you get better is to try things, even dumb things, and the way you fail will teach you how to succeed.failing IS PART OF succeeding, guys. it’s the first half of the process. -- source link
