I got hit with this charge and called the billing department. They explained that it was due to calling in a counselor (which didn’t happen), providing emotional support (I was given a stack of tissues and left tf alone), and extra labor from the present nurse (by extra labor do you mean handing me a box of tissues and shutting the door when she left?). After a firm chat, they removed the absurd charge.Call and have a firm chat. No cursing or yelling, just explain the absurdity of this. If we could just get universal healthcare then we can still pay for these things but hey you’ll never see the bill so you don’t have to worry about disputing it what has universal healthcare have to do with this bruhno one even mentioned it This shit goes away if hospitals and medical offices list out publicly the services they perform and charge for, though. As it is, in most of the US, you don’t know how much whatever service you’re being provided will cost you until sometimes weeks after receiving the service, to find out you paid like $80 for something that would have run anyone $3. I had to have my heart examined in February. They charged me an up front cost of $1,700 USD. I assumed that this was the price after going through my insurance provider. Turns out they did an estimate of approximate costs and would refund me later if they over charged me. It took me until the last week of April to get my money back after calling every week and it was $1,000 return. They over charged me $1,000 and apologized saying “yes this is standard you could have refused the charges the day of the appointment and waited” when I explained to them I wasn’t made aware of that they just shrugged their shoulders and hung up the phone. Remember when Grand Cheeto signed an executive order that hospitals had to publicly disclose the cost of all procedures and allow people to shop around for the best price?Remember when overturning it was one of the very first things Creepy Uncle Joe did when he got into office? -- source link
