simffreychaucer: The Citizens of Medieval WindenburgMeet Duncan and Alina MacCailein, a happily married couple originally from Scotland. Alina is the illegitimate daughter of a Scottish nobleman and his wife’s lady in waiting. Duncan, the son of an esteemed artisan in his village, fell hopelessly in love with Alina at first sight. Their love, however, was frowned upon because Alina is of mixed heritage. Her father, desperate to avoid a scandal, made plans to separate the young lovebirds. Before Alina’s father could send her far away, she and Duncan fled to Windenburg at her mother’s suggestion. Her mother heard tales of the town’s acceptance of all who were different from a traveling witch. They soon settled and became an integral part of the Windenburg community, being offered immunity by King Raolf III himself. Michael is a blacksmith and Alina is a weaver and potter. Michael and Alina are well known amongst Windenburg citizens for their beautifully handcrafted wares.
