In the comics, Captain America after all, fought against home front saboteurs more than he did in the theaters of war. It’s questionable how much homefront sabotage there was in the US as a result of spies, but it seems the culture of that era was as obsessed with that idea, as the 80s was with Satanic Child Abuse and the turn of the century was with White Slavery Rings. -- source link
