By 1941 it was replaced by other types and found new uses with ground troops. It must be noted the MG15 was copied in Japan as the Type 1 machine gun but chambered in the 7.7x58mm Arisaka round otherwise this weapon is near-identical.The top one is shown with the doppel trommel magazine, this magazine was also called a saddle drum because of the way it straddled the reciver. -- source link
