Judy Beaver created Proofreading Day on March 8, 2011 in remembrance of her mother, who loved to correct people. She chose her mother’s birthday as the perfect day for this occasion. Here at the National Archives at Riverside, we not only celebrate 100 percent accuracy, it’s procedure. Like every good procedure, it gets better with age and advances with the times. In a short period of time, we have gone from paper reference to almost exclusively electronic. We now have a process in place for managing electronic reference. Our emails are proofread before hitting the send button to ensure our customers are getting a quality product. This process saves paper in this new generation of green ideals, while still keeping us professional and well-written.
