The climbing vines and vibrant flowers recall the popular Tree of Life motif associated with Indian palampores. The small-patterned flat quilting that decorates the linen ground, common to English bedcovers and garments of the period, also offers evidence of Indian influence. The yellow silk thread on the ivory ground fabric recalls the tussah silk embroidery found on seventeenth-century Indo-Portuguese exports. (MET)MET -- source link
