thefingerfuckingfemalefury:yakofalltrades:thefingerfuckingfemalefury: espanolbot2:thefingerfuckingfemalefury:irregularincidents:In 1966′s Rasputin: the Mad Monk, Christopher Lee played a version of the titular Russian mystic in a Hammer horror film interpretation of his life. Oddly, much like how he was acquainted with JRR Tolkien prior to eventually getting cast as Saruman in the Lord of the RIngs film, Lee also has a connection to Rasputin also.Or, more accurately, when he was a child he actually met Felix Yusupov and Dmitri Pavlovich via his parents, who were two of the men who killed Rasputin back in 1916. Additionally, in 1976, a decade after appearing in the Mad Monk, Lee also met Rasputin’s daughter Maria, who reported told him that he’d successfully captured her father’s “expression“.Side-note: the Mad Monk was filmed back to back with the aforementioned Dracula: Prince of Darkness, and used many of the same sets and cast members. WAIT WHAT It’s kind of bananas the amount of history people that Lee either met or was related to. Like more recently he was half-cousins with James Bond creator Ian Fleming (with Fleming initially wanting Lee for the role based on his work as a spy during WW2, but with the producers settling on Sean Connery instead).Whereas if you go further back one of his great-aunts introduced opera to Australia, and even FURTHER back he was a descendant of Charlemagne, who was king of the Franks in the 700s/800s and was credited as being “the Father of Europe“ due to his uniting Western Europe under his rule following the collapse of the Roman Empire some time before. There’s even coins of the dude. And while I can’t really confirm if there’s any art based on first hand sources of what Charlemagne looked like, it’s definitely weird home much later portraits of the guy look like Lee, particularly around the eyes and nose. WHAT THE ACTUAL WHAT Christopher Lee also released a metal album about Charlemagne in 2013It’s called Charlemagne: The Omens of Deathhttps://open.spotify.com/album/3f7gzl8zzQzrWajmKLzjqn?si=fYVG1W-gRSShy2VphEaW_w&utm_source=copy-link A M A Z I N G -- source link
