Armen Djerrahian, photographer, director and creative director @armenexpo Armen Djerrahian, probably one of the unsung heroes of the global Armenian community has achieved phenomenal success in his respective field as a photographer, director for music videos and commercials in the music and fashion industry. Born in Paris, France, Armen’s ancestry stretches very much all over the Middle East (Turkey, Syria, Lebanon etc.) as a result of the Armenian Genocide in 1915. Even though being born and raised in Paris his upbringing was very much Armenian. Growing up in the 1980’s as Armen describes it, he fell in love with the beauty of Hip Hop culture and was captivated with urban sports , being a BMX biker in his early years. Armen was also active in break dancing, graffiti and music. But it was freestyle BMX’ing that eventually led Armen to be more involved with photography in the beginning of the 1990’s, documenting the uprising of this new culture called Hip Hop. A self-thought photographer Armen built up a solid reputation in the music and fashion industry as one of the very best photographers in his respective field. Artists like Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Stromae, and Ryan Leslie have been known to knock on Armen’s door for quality visuals. Almost 8 years ago Armen moved to New York from Paris to give his career a fresh new start. Looking for inspiration and broadening his horizon Armen’s vision was to focus mainly on super aesthetic imagery, beauty and fashion. Besides being a photographer, director and a business owner, Armen Djerrahian is also a husband and a father. To see more of his work, visit armendjerrahian.com or armenexpo.tumblr.com -- source link
