heterotopian: The Tale of Two Cities according to Stephi and Heiko - Part 364We present you with another continuation of the last weeks when we showed you gas stations and charging stations fr electronic cars. Since we live in the city there are other means of transportation available as well. For example there is a well spinner web of public transportation all around the city. That may be better in some cities (Munich) than in others (Cologne) but its available and you can get from point A to point B. The first pictures shows the inside of a modern subway train in Munich. The train is completely empty, which is a rare sight even though the use of public transportation dropped significantly during the first year fo the pandemic. Right now the numbers of users are rising again. From an ecological point of view it is a way better means than an old school gasoline car, especially when you only use short distances. And I haven’t even started talking about finding a parking slot. The second picture shows a nodal point where you can either use busses or subway trains into different directions. On the front to the left you see the elevator that ring you down to the subway trains and in the front you see the bus stop. Since we talked a lot about ecological aspects, there are more and more electric buses in Cologne and these buses are super quite. Sometimes you don’t even hear them and that gives another reason to either look sideways before crossing a road or use traffic lights after all.We are well aware that in the city public transportation is a valid alternative to a car and probably even the preferred method of transportation. But how is the situation in the villages and outside of the cities? -- source link
