destructiontheory:This is a Cabbage Patch Kids Snacktime Kids doll from 1996. The eating doll with a motorized mouth, which was recalled in 1997 after at least 35 reports of kids getting their hair and fingers caught in the dolls’ mouths. While there were battery packs in the dolls’ backpacks which could be removed, the dolls were manufactured without an on/off switch or warning. Because the eating mechanism wouldn’t stop once engaged, it became extremely difficult to remove the dolls, even with removal of the battery pack (which probably wouldn’t occur to most panicking children with hair-eating dolls attached to their scalps). As a result some children ended up with bald spots where the dolls pulled out patches of their hair. Anyway, I’ve been meaning to look these dolls up and put together a little something about them because I keep remembering the news programs from when this was going on during my childhood. Not the normal creepy doll fare, but maybe you’d be interested, sixpenceee.I had this doll! Idk how kids got their hair caught in there because in order for the chewing mechanism to be engaged without the toy food you had to purposefully engage it with your finger or something like that. -- source link
