templeofbabalon: And speaking of idealised images of submission… that is just a lovely image, but there are only two ways this comes about - either you have a remarkably obedient sub (or masochist who transcends pain the blink of an eye), or you’ve got a sub who has yet to be hurt properly. By properly I mean that they’ve really broken them down and they’ve learned how to fully fear the pain you inflict on them. I’ve been with a number of fantastic subs, but their reaction on seeing me reach for a crop has never been to quietly present, and has had much more to do with wanting to run and hide… To actively present themselves for pain? Well, I’m pretty sure each has been capable of it, but it would take special circumstances for them to choose to do so. Instead, if a sub is ‘feeling the need’ I’m used to having to read the signs. A slight glance to a particular point in the room. A certain kind of wriggling in bed. A fundamentally absurd conversations along the lines of “You know what we could do…?” “What?” “Nothing! Forget I said anything.” Ah, desires that cannot be admitted, but only hinted at. -- source link
