the-antiapocalyptic-man: Headverse’s Young Justice/Multiversal Young Justice/Young Justice Incarnate! The founders at least:Lara, much younger here than I usually portray and closer to a surly teen version and not the confident, supermodel adult version. She’s only recently been liberated from Cadmus and PROJECT at this point, made aware of her familial/genetic connections to Kal, Diana, and Luthor. I’ve always wanted to a big multiverse/cosmic story with canon!Kon not just because the comics did it and Lara’s different enough that I feel like there’s a lot to explore as she makes the jump from Kon-El to Lara Kon-El to “The Superhuman” (E-0)Jess, who I just wrote a bunch about. As far as their dynamic with the others, Jess fills the Impulse role, but also generally serves as the one getting the group into uh, situations. They’ve got a big heart and a legitimate love for exploration and adventure, and sometimes Lara and Robin just really wish they didn’t (E-11)and…Robin (E-2) who I haven’t done anything with a long time. He’s a weird figure because I never actually made a hard decision on what his backstory was, but also the original concept was the Silver Age Earth-2 Robin aka adult!Dick Grayson, but backdating that to my version as a young teen divorces him from that inspiration even beyond the stark black/red, Ross-inspired costume. Finished art is probably not where I should be thinking out loud, but this particular Robin has a very defined look but a very nebulous backstory for me. At one point, I think I wanted him to actually be Val-Zod or another Kryptonian, as kind of a shared mentee to Earth-2′s Ternion, but Duke, Young!Jace, or even Dick all work too? I could cheese it Nolan-style and just keep referring to him as “Robin” but there’s a story to be told here and part of that is defining and fleshing out the cast. At some point, the easiest thing might just be to make this version another OC and move on from there. He’s a metahuman, he operates independent of Bruce or any other Batman, it’s not much of a leap. Anyway, thx for suffering with me through my terrible creative process lol. These three form kind of on the cusp of the headverse!Crisis era, with the adult version being prominent after the time skip as Superhuman, Flash, and Robin (still). The team expands beyond this fairly quickly as well (I’m rearing to /finally/ do Greta soon) but since I nicked the name, it felt right to start with homage to the original line-up. The classic Connor/Bart/Tim line-up exists on Earth-1 and there’s variants and reflections of the group throughout the multiverse, but OoU, these three were a good excuse to indulge some of my design sensibilities. -- source link
