Britain. Washing machine goes in the kitchen. Colombia, in the backyard next to the washing sink. In either it’s own room or the garage Canada, basement or it’s own room/closet. Laundry Room - Montana, USA Scotland – kitchen, basement, or garage does not make sense at all…you use towels in a bathroom, you get dressed and change clothes in your bedroom, and you have sheets and pillowcases in your bedroom….yet the washing machine may be a floor or two down in the house, so you’re lugging laundry up and down multiple stairs? or even going outside to a garage/shed?….better it be in the bathroom, or even a small utility room close to the bedrooms/bathrooms, which are usually on an upper floor in the house, so WHERE laundry is being CREATED is where it is being WASHED….JMHO…. England - laundry room, ground floor. I think you’ll find most British bathrooms aren’t large enough to take a washing machine and even if it did the tumble dryer or washing line (in the garden) are still downstairs so you end up carting washing downstairs in any event. But who wants a noisy washing machine upstairs bouncing around on floorboards or chipboard. No thanks. Not to mention the issue of using an electrical appliance in a very damp/steamy environment. Live washing machine anyone? ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Australia - laundry room generally next to the kitchen and back door. So that you can dry laundry on the washing line. Although I’ve noticed that in new apartments they are being given space for either a washer/dryer combo or dishwasher in the kitchen or in bathroom. In new Townhouses you might have a tiny laundry room or space in kitchen or garage. Houston, TX - Our laundry room is near the 2nd and 3rd bedroom in a closed off part of the home, so it’s nowhere near the kitchen. But in 2-story and 3-story townhomes (and in our last apartment) I’ve definitely seen them in the kitchen before. Just sold a new build in 5th Ward that was 2-story, 3/3 and the laundry room was right off the kitchen near the back door. However, the builder excluded making a garage for the home, which is a new trend I’ve noticed this year. -- source link
