I was looking at cosplay pix online the other day and I found a picture of my Testament cosplay from AX a few years ago. This cosplay was such a stupid decision. It worked out fine but that doesn’t make it any less stupid. You see, I decided to do this cosplay THE DAY BEFORE WE LEFT for AX. All my people told me not to do it because that was way too late to decide to cosplay buuuuuut I never was any good at listening to good advice. So, I ran out, bought pleather, buckles, some styrofoam, and picked up a random stick I found on the side of the road. I stayed up all night before we left just polishing and varnishing the staff. Then, with nothing else but the staff done, we left in the morning to drive the 800 miles to LA. Now, you might figure that this wasn’t such a bad idea because worst case scenerio is just that I wouldn’t have a cosplay for the con. No big deal. Lots of people go without a cosplay. but you’d be forgetting one thing. I"M AN IDIOT! You see, I had the great idea that I was gonna be like Cortez burning the boats so there could be no retreat. The only thing I brought with me was the unfinished cosplay parts and the clothes on my back. I would finish this cosplay or I’d have nothing to wear at all… I worked all day in the car and all night in the hotel room sewing the rest of the costume. At the point this pic was taken, I HADN’T SLEPT FOR THREE DAYS. So, kids, the moral of the story is, you can do anything as long as you’re dumb enough not to realize something is impossible and too stubborn to admit how dumb your idea was. ….I guess that’s not much of a moral. Oh well. Maybe nothing was learned after all? -- source link
