arianatwycross: Say my Namea little Jily one shot inspired by this artwork, Friday Nights by Deborah DeWit (2006) It was a Friday night. Lily, in her element, was smothered in her favourite woolen blanket, her most recent read balancing on her knees. If you counted the roaring great fire opposite, and the soft mumbling around her, one would think that this was a usual scene to see Lily in. Yet, there was a slight difference tonight. Sitting opposite her, position mirrored by her very own, sat James Potter. He wasn’t reading a novel but a textbook and his glasses were slowly slipping down his nose as his eyes skimmed the pages. Her friends were otherwise occupied, primping and preening themselves ready for the Ravenclaw party set to start in an hour. Lily - who was still on awkward terms with her Ravenclaw ex-boyfriend - had denied the invitation and settled in for a rather-needed relaxing night of reading. What she didn’t expect was for James Potter to take up residency opposite her on the same couch. Both of them facing each other, toes inches from touching, she felt slightly irritated. It wasn’t like they weren’t friends, on the contrary - they had been quite good friends over the last few months. Sharing head leadership of the school necessitated a friendly understanding and respect between the two. This, along with their friend group merging into one - meant that James and Lily often spent time together. Except their time together was usually around at least one or two other people.
