These are stationary lens-shaped clouds that form at high altitudes, usually perpendicular to the direction of the wind. WHAT That is a fucking cloud pagoda. There’s a reason that Shinto practitioners believe that the clouds above Mt. Fuji are the home to the kami 木花之開耶姫 (Konohanasakuya-hime): She is the goddess of Mount Fuji, as well as all volcanoes. She’s also the avatar that represents life to the Shinto. Her symbol is that of the 桜 (sakura - cherry blossom) which represents the idea of mono no aware or “the ephemera of things” - the awareness that life is both intense and fleeting.
